Heritage Walks in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is a land full of stories, history, and culture. With a plethora of places to explore and visit one cannot cover all the destinations here by bus, train or taxi, thus the government of Uttar Pradesh have organized various heritage walks at Varanasi, Allahabad, Agra, and Lucknow. For the people who want to explore the city to the fullest without missing anything. These heritage walks are the best way to know about the history, stories, and culture of the gone era and have a guided tour around the cities.

Lucknow Heritage Walk

The Heritage walk of Lucknow is a guided tour of the old city which is divided into two parts the Qaiserbagh Walk and the Chowk Walk. The tour starts from Lal Pul, Tila Wali Masjid, Bara Imambara, Gol Darwaza, Chowk Bazaar, Phool Wali Gali to Akbari Darwaza. This tour is the best way explore the city to know about the history, culture, and stories of Lucknow. An experienced guide accompanies the visitors, who can help them in guiding them and answering all of their questions related to the sites and traditions of the city. The tour is organized daily from 7:30 am to 10:00 am from April to September and 8:00 am to 10:30 am from October to March.

The Qaiserbagh Heritage Walk starts from General Kothi then Kothi Farhat Baksh , Badi Chhatar manzil, Lal Baradari, Kothi Gulistan-e- Eram, Chhoti Chattar Manzil, Kothi Darshan Bilas, Neil Gate or Sher Darwaza, Victoria Memorial, Gol Gate, Tomb of Murshid Zadi , Pakikhana , Marmari Pul, Lakhi Gate, Kothi Roshan-ud Daulah, Safed Baradari, Chaulakhi Gate , Amir-ud Daulah Library and ends at Qaiserbagh Chauraha

The second walk is the Chowk Heritage Walk which starts from Harding Bridge then Tomb of Shah Peer Muhammad, Teele Wali Masjid, Naubatkhana, 1st entrance Gate of Aasafi Imambara, Park inside Imambara, 2nd Entrance Gate of Bada Imambara, Shahi Bavoli, Bada Imambara, Aasafi Masjid, Musafirkhana, Rumi Gate, Gol Darwaza,Chowk Kotwali, Entrance Road of Kings Unani Hospital, Kaptan Ka Kuan, Firangi Mahal, Nepali haveli, Enak Wali Masjid, Meer Anees Ka Maqbara, Meer Anees ki Haveli, Tehseen Ki Masjid, Akbari Gate and it ends at Ahmed Manzil.

Allahabad Heritage Walk

Allahabad Heritage Walk is a guided tour of the city of Allahabad to help the people who visit the city explore it to its fullest and also promote Allahabad as a tourist destination. The routes which are recommended on the walk are of International standards which help the tourist in not just seeing the monument but also getting the full knowledge of the architecture and history involved with it. The Allahabad Heritage Walk has two routes one is The Allahabad Walk and route two is The Sangam Walk.The Allahabad Walk starts from Alfred Park (Chandra Shekhar Azad Park) then Allahabad Museum, Thornhill-Mayne Memorial, Muir Central College, Department of Math, Department of Botany, University Road, Department of Ancient History, Culture and Archaeology, Central Library, Senate Hall, K.P. Training College, Belvedere Printing Works, Holy Trinity Church, Jawahar Bal Bhawan , Swaraj Bhawan and ends at Anand Bhawan.

The Second Route that is The Sangam Walk starts from Shankar Viman Mandapam then Bade Hanumanji ka Mandir, The colors of Allahabad, Kumbh and Magh ka Mela, Ram Ghat Ganga River, Triveni Sangam, Naini bridge, Yamuna river, Allahabad Fort and ends at Akshay vat.

Agra Heritage Walk

The Agra Heritage Walk is a guided tour of the city of Agra to help and explore various other destinations in Agra other than the Taj Mahal. This tour focuses on other famous destinations in the City of Agra. The Heritage walks help in people getting to know about the history and heritage of the city. There are two routes of the Heritage Walk one is the Beyond Taj Walk and the other one is Great Mughal Side Walk.The Beyond Taj Walk starts from Taj Mahal then Sandli Masjid, Ban- Walo ki Bagichi, Dargah Ahmed Bukhari, Haathi Khana and this tour ends on Haveli Khan –I Dauran.

The second Heritage tour is the Great Mughal River side Wall which starts from Batees Khamba then goes to Gaushala, Ram Bagh, Zohra Bagh, Chini ka Rauza, The tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, Gyarah Sidi and this tour ends at Mehtab Bagh.

Varanasi Heritage Walk

The Heritage walk in Varanasi happens during the morning thus the name of the walk is Subha-e- Banaras. This beautiful tour takes the visitors to the Ghats of the Ganga where one can find light music in morning ragas, yoga and Banarasi breakfast. One can also see many famous temples in Varanasi.
